Born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia, J.B. Blankenship is an Alumni of George Mason University (B.A.) and Indiana University-Bloomington (M.S.). His globe trotting adventures have spanned chaperoning cross-country interfaith youth bicycle rides, sailing around the world, and working as a live-in homeschool teacher.

 

While this is J.B.’s first children’s book, he has a long career in both GLBT advocacy and literacy education. He is a blogger for the famed Kinsey Institute’s gender and sex education outreach program, Kinsey Confidential and currently sits on the Board of Directors for Chicago’s SitStayRead organization, a dog-focused literacy program that utilizes therapy dogs to build reading confidence and fluency in at risk-youth.
